「硒保安」的硒含量豐富，是「有機硒」，生物科技上屬於「生物合成硒」。相對於無機硒，它有較大的生物可利用性，能被動物方便的利用。它結合存在於酵母的氨基酸內，所以在腸腔內有較高的穩定性。對禽畜飼養而言，較多的可利用硒，有利於酵素穀胱甘肽過氧化物酶的活性，對控制有機體內自由基(過氧化物)有相當重要的功能。

Selenos is a yeast enriched with selenium, also known as “organic selenium” or “biosynthesized selenium”. The advantage of this selenium source in relation to the inorganic selenium is the greater bioavailability and use by the animal because, as the selenium is incorporated to the amino acid of the yeast, it has greater stability in the intestinal lumen. The greater amount of selenium available will favor the activity of the enzyme glutathione peroxidase, which has fundamental importance in the control of free radicals (peroxides) in the body.
